As a native of Lima Peru I am passionate about sharing the traditional taste of fine Peruvian food and its unique culture with others. Kichana will specialize in classic Peruvian seafood dishes in combination with original fusion dishes of my own and fresh pressed juices with vegetarian and vegan options to suit any dietary preference - all using only the freshest, seasonal ingredients available from local farms and vendors.
The best part of any meal, however, is sharing it with others. The beauty of being an establishment on wheels is the ability to be out among the community. I will be able to operate in different locations, catering out of my food cart for different events and various venues on the weekends as well as staying local for day to day business. What sets my cart apart from others, superb food aside, is my plan to host a monthly event. My hope is to collaborate with local artists, entrepreneurs and businesses in which Kichana provides a free meal and a fun learning experience for kids. Art, cooking, yoga, gardening, ecology are some of the topics I hope to cover. I believe Kichana’s monthly classes will bring individuals together, open conversation, and create strong relationships. In this way, Kichana offers more than just a delicious meal, but also serves to facilitate and strengthen community bonds in the Kichana neighborhood and beyond.

Kichana is an innovative restaurant cart concept that not only serves delicious combinations of fresh and organic Peruvian dishes but also strives to provide an experience to the customer that is both educational and community-centric. Ultimately the business will operate from a tiny restaurant that is located initially in Sellwood, but will be mobile enough to move to a variety of locations to participate in special festival or events as needed. The restaurant primarily focuses on the quality of its food coupled with the friendly and customer-centered service of its employees.
